Variation: Bean bags are easy to make with scraps of fabric and interesting sounding and feeling items (beans, rice, pennies, buttons, old nylons, or sponges) from around the house. Make sure your seams are fool proof (and baby proof)!

WAY HIGH

As your baby gains control of his or her head, after three months or so, he or she can start to take to the air. Sit on the floor with your little one in your lap, facing you. Wrap your hands firmly under the baby’s arms and around the chest.

“Are you ready to go up in the air?” you ask. “Here we go now: one, two, three, wheeee!”
